DIRECTIONS

Step 1

Before starting, take all of the crushed malt and place in the Mesh Grain Bag.

Step 2

Warm up 1 quart of water to 150 degrees into a 3 gallon pot (pot A).

Step 3

Place the Mesh Grain Bag into the water tying it off on a handle to ensure it doesn’t move. If the temperature drops below 150 degrees, just bring it back up to temperature. Let the bag steep for 30 minutes.

Step 4

Once the 30 minutes are up, take out the bag and rinse 1.5 quarts of warm water through it allowing the water to fall back into the pot. Throw away the grains.

Step 5

Add warm water until the total volume is 1 gallons.

Step 6

Add the 0.45 lbs of Light Dried Malt Extract into the pot and stir until it is dissolved (should be about 5-10 minutes).

Step 7

Turn up the temperature until a boil is reached.

Step 8

Once it starts boiling, add the 5 g of Chinook hops and let it boil for 45 minutes.

Step 9

After the 45 minutes are up, add the 0.67 lbs of Briess Light Liquid Malt and let it boil for another 15 minutes.

Step 10

After the 15 minutes are up, add the 3 g of Willamette hops and the 3 g of Cascade hops.

Step 11

Let it boil for another 2 minutes.

Step 12

Once the 2 minutes is done, pour the liquid through a mesh strainer into a separate 5 gallon pot (pot B).

Step 13

Through away what was caught in the strainer.

Step 14

Add cool water to the pot until the total volume is 1 gallons.

Step 15

Put the pot into the sink of ice water and let it sit until it achieves about 78 degrees.

Step 16

Once this is done, syphon the beer into the fermenter and add the White Labs WLP001 Yeast and shake gently to activate the yeast.

Step 17

Store the fermenter in a dark place let it sit for 2 weeks.

That’s it! After that 2 weeks, you can then start the bottling process!
