Burial has several locations throughout North Carolina, but the original is their South Slope location in Asheville, NC. It was started by Tim Gormley and Doug and Jess Reiser who dreamt up the idea for a craft brewery while they all lived in Seattle. They decided to move across the country in 2013 to start their brewery in Asheville and the rest is history.

The Location and Environment
The original Burial location in South Slope is walking distance to many other craft breweries in Asheville. The building used to be an old transmission shop, but now boasts two bars, a full kitchen, and indoor and outdoor seating. The beer garden outside is a great place to enjoy a beer with friends when the weather is nice, but can get packed.

The Beer
It seems like each time I visit Burial they have a new beer on tap. Their hazy IPA’s are all solid options, but you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose to get. The Surf Wax IPA is a staple beer of theirs and can even be purchased in cans to go.

Final Thoughts
Burial is one of the better breweries in Asheville, which is saying a lot since Asheville is known for their craft beer scene. Their location in South Slope is nothing fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. It is smaller than some of the other breweries around, but is definitely a must visit brewery while you are in Asheville.
